Methane is natural gas which is applied as motor fuel at gasoline and diesel fuel vehicles. As a more economical and cleaner substitute for the existing transport fuels, it is appropriate for use for light, as well as for heavy commercial vehicles.
By its application, the consumers use the low-cost benefits, and all other members of the community may also feel the advantages referring to the reduced emissions of harmful exhaust gases.
The application of this fuel on global level has constantly been growing. Presently, around 13 million vehicles are driven by methane, one million of which are in Europe. The average annual growth rate of the vehicles driven by methane in Europe is 14 % during the past few years.
There are predictions that until 2015, the number of methane driven vehicles will be more than 25 millions.
ADVANTAGES OF THE METHANE
The two important factors that impose the widely spread and promising application of methane are cost efficiency and environmental protection.
COST EFFICIENCY
Compared to the other fuels, the methane is more cost efficient fuel. You will travel greater mileage using methane for the same expense. The mileage varies depending on the type and the model of the vehicle, the driving conditions etc., while the expenses for maintenance of the vehicle are lower.
As motor fuel, the methane extends the service life of the engine, maintaining the factory declared performances of the engine.
The noise from the operation of the engine is significantly lower, which makes the vehicles on methane drive particularly convenient for the city traffic.
ENVIRONMENT
The methane is important energy resource reducing the pollution. The use of the methane contributes to the lowering of the greenhouse effect and to the improvement of the ambient air quality. The methane engines release lower harmful fumes emission. The CO2 emission is 25% - 30% lower than that of the gasoline and the methane combustion produces virtually no sulfur and ash.
VEHICLES
The automobile industry is increasingly producing vehicles with factory build-in methane drive systems, while for the existing vehicles with gasoline engines there are methane drive systems which are built-in additionally. Also, methane drive systems intended for diesel engines will be commercially available in the near future.
The strategic goal of Makpetrol is development of network of methane filling stations throughout the whole territory of the Republic of Macedonia. Up to now, two stations where you can fill methane for your vehicle have been constructed and put into operation:
Petrol station 086 Vlae in Skopje, and
Petrol Station 013 Kumanovo.
In addition, Makpetrol has provided advanced, high quality methane drive systems, as well as their installation and regular servicing. If you need any information related to the methane drive systems, please refer to the telephone numbers below to contact us:
